Ramon Hernandez Judo has almost three decades of experience in Judo. He began his martial arts journey in 1994, specializing in Judo since 1997. In August 2000, he earned his Shodan (1st Dan) Judo Black Belt under Sensei Yoshisada Yonezuka, who served as the US Olympic Head Coach for the 1988 and 1992 Olympic Summer Games. Ramon Hernandez also trained under Anthony Camal. Currently the rank of Godan (5th Dan) under USA Judo. He continues to develop in Judo skills and knowledge under the mentorship of the legendary coach four-time US Judo Olympian, 1992 Olympic Silver Medalist, 1993 World Bronze Medalist and 2008 US Olympic Coach, Jason Morris. As an instructor, Ramon Hernandez leads a dedicated competitive team that consistently participates in local, regional, national and now international tournaments, fostering the next generation of talented judoka.
In October of 2006 Sensei Ramon Hernandez founded North Jersey Judo Center in Pompton Plains, NJ. In 2019 he moved his training hall to Pompton Lakes, NJ where he and his family reside. At the time of this writing Ramon Hernandez has served as 1st VP for two terms and President of Judo of NJ, Inc. 2024/25 term.
In April 2010 under the leadership of Tournament Director Ramon Hernandez established the Garden State Judo Classic. This annual event has since grown to become a USA Judo D-Level Point Tournament, attracting competitors from across the United States and Canada. In 2022, Ramon Hernandez further expanded his contributions to Judo by founding the North American Judo Championships. Both events consistently draw a large number of participants, with attendance ranging from 400 to 500 competitors. Beyond these two tournaments, Ramon Hernandez has been actively involved in supporting the New Jersey Judo Community. He has served as the Tournament Director for past New Jersey Opens, an event created to raise funds for New Jersey resident athletes competing in national tournaments such as the USA Judo Senior Nationals, President’s Cup, and the US Open. Additionally, he organized and directed the 2017 New Jersey vs. New York Team Championship, another fund-raising event.

Ramon Hernandez Junior is currently competing on the National and IJF Circuit to qualify for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Ramon graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Business Administration Graduating Class of 2024.
He has trained under his father Ramon Hernandez Sr. and since 2021 under the mentorship of the legendary coach four-time US Judo Olympian, 1992 Olympic Silver Medalist, 1993 World Bronze Medalist and 2008 US Olympic Coach, Jason Morris.
